General Tips, Guidelines and Information about Panama Fishing

1. LANGUAGE

English is considered Panama’s alternative language.  In Panama you can expect the people in the hotels, bars and restaurants to speak English fluently.  Once you will go outside of the cities, you may find it useful to have brushed up on your Spanish.

2. WEATHER

Panama’s weather is steamy, with daytime temperatures averaging around 85° to 90° on the ocean, and only about 5° to 10° cooler at night. December through April is the dry season, often with little rain or no.  The other months of the year can be quite sticky, with tropical rain showers in the afternoons. 

3. SAFETY

The people of Panama are friendly and the crime rate is low. Panama City is a large metropolis, as just as you would in any big city, exercise caution.  In the shopping district and central banking, you can feel very safe.  If you go out at night, just go in group.  In Panama, you are generally safe day and night but as anywhere on the planet you should always exercise due carefulness and caution when traveling in strange surroundings.

4. SANITATION

Food and water is safe to eat and drink in both Panama City. You should not worry about being troubled by “Montezuma’s Revenge”. Panama’s sanitation standard is good.

When it comes to clothing, you can pack light costume for our tropical climate.

5. WHAT TO BRING

We suggest you bring the following:-

• Long pants and sport shirt for your air travel and when in Panama City.
• Two fishing shirts and two pairs of fishing shorts
• A rain jacket for Panama sport fishing.
• Knee pads and finger strip for added comfort when casting to or battling big game fish.
• You’re fishing cap or a broad-rimmed "Panamanian" fishing hat.           

Other items to pack include your swimsuit, passport, sunglasses and any personal items you might need.
